An Honest Approach to Fitness and Why I Can Help You

Sometimes the truth hurts. When you see that picture of yourself and realize you’ve gained too much weight, you just want to crawl in your bed and pull the covers over your head.  Do you know that feeling? I’ve experienced every level of fitness. From super fit, to super fat, I’ve done it all. I’ve strutted proudly on the fitness stage in a bikini and also pulled those covers over my head after gaining 30 pounds.   I’m a professional fitness competitor and sometimes a professional eater! I’ve been supermodel sized  and a super SIZED  model.  I’ve had confidence that allowed me to achieve great success, and yet have pushed through depression and self-doubt. I’ve tried every diet, trained endlessly and obsessed over my body. I’ve been a binge eater, a non-eater, a cardio bulimic and extreme critic of my body. So how can I help YOU?

Through my experiences I finally realized that nutrition and fitness is a JOURNEY. Sometimes the journey is smooth, other times it has valleys and pitfalls.   Being healthy doesn’t have a set outcome. Our  lives and our bodies are ever changing and evolving.  From athletes to young women, mothers and grandmothers the cycle of life proposes many obstacles, relationships, new jobs, marriages, etc.   As our lives change, so do our bodies and our fitness routines change with us.

I encourage you to look at my competition and fitness modeling photos. Then look at my other more current pictures.  I can’t always be in “competition shape” and I can’t always be a fat couch potato. Over time I realized that somewhere in the middle, a balance is where I found my happiness. Helping women find honesty , self- acceptance and a realistic healthy weight is important to me and my own personal journey.  Through balanced nutrition, training and fun, all together in my group and personal training sessions I hope to help women see the “big picture” of health.  I want to help you  balance  work, meal planning, socializing and training HARD!  Fitness is a lifestyle.  I want women to feel CONFIDENT about their bodies, not PERFECT. So many trainers search for perfection, which ultimately backfires and creates a yo yo relationship with food and working out.  I’m searching for The BEST you can be at any given point in time. I feel confident I can help you get there!

Working with Coach Betsy and her Meal Plans for Gymnasts is impacting my two daughters and their progression in the sport faster and better than I anticipated.  Their gym coaches have said for years that they needed to eat more…they have crazy fast metabolisms and were not building the lean muscle they need to gain the strength necessary for high level skills. Learning about the specific nutritional needs for gymnasts and implementing her meal plans for our girls has helped us find a wider variety of foods they enjoy eating and understand the importance of eating 5 meals (not snacks) a day.  Their muscle development, improved focus and concentration in the gym, and their overall confidence as athletes really shows after just four months of following Betsy’s program.  We are thrilled that we found Coach Betsy!
